Ciao a tutti,
agli inizi di Agosto è venuto a trovarmi Thomas, un amico Svizzero interessato nelle frombole e nella metallurgia: quale miglior pretesto per insegnargli qualcosa, che fabbricargli un coltello?
Ho preso a modello alcuni coltelli ritrovati ad Autun (l'antica Bibracte: www.historyguru.com.au/Celts-of-Gaul/Case-Study-Bibracte), datati al II° secolo a.C., seguendo la linea generale più che un modello preciso.
Nello spezzone di video allegato a questo messaggio, potrete assistere alla tempera della lama, avvenuta secondo tecniche sperimentate precedentemente e rese note nella mia tesi di laurea.
Un piccolo esempio di come lavoro

At the beginning of August a Swiss friend of mine, Thomas, came to my house for a visit. He's interested in slinging and metal working: so it was the occasion to teach him something by making him a knife.
I modeled his knife on some Celtic ones found in Autun (ancient Bibracte: www.historyguru.com.au/Celts-of-Gaul/Case-Study-Bibracte) and dating back to the 2nd Century b.C., following the general silhouette rather than a certain model.
You can see the quench of the blad in the clip behind, which quench I did using technologies previously experimented and published in my thesis.
